Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter
Homelessness is a complex issue that affects millions of people worldwide. In the United States alone, an estimated 553,000 people experience homelessness on any given night. Homelessness can be caused by a variety of factors, including poverty, lack of affordable housing, mental illness, and substance abuse. Despite efforts to address the issue, homelessness remains a significant challenge for many communities.
To do our part, we organized a donation drive to collect essential items for the Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter. We reached out to our community and asked for donations of clothing, food, and personal hygiene products. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to gather a significant amount of donations, which we then delivered to the shelter.
P2E Monthly
P2E Monthly is a program by our nonprofit that highlights a new charity or organization every month for people to donate to. In the past, we have featured organizations such as the ACLU, Red Cross, NAACP, and most recently, the American Heart Association. We are proud to announce that over $1000 was raised in just one month for the American Heart Association.
Reproductive Rights Walkout
The Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion nationwide in 1973, has a cornerstone of reproductive rights in the United States. However, in recent years, lawmakers have been working to chip away at these rights, passing restrictive laws and regulations that make it increasingly difficult for women to access safe and legal abortion services. In 2021, there was growing concern that Supreme Court justices may overturn Roe v. Wade, potentially leaving millions of women without access to the care they need.
In the wake of that decision, we took action by staging a walkout, joining many other schools across the nation. Our reproductive rights walkout served as a powerful statement of our unwavering commitment to protecting the rights of women everywhere. Through our collective efforts, we stood united in our cause, and effectively expressed our stance to push for change. Featured in Prince William Times.
